2.plant morphology

So today I will talk about the plants anatomy and its morphology. In other words how does my plant look like on the inside.
The banana plant is a tree-like perennial herb. It is an herb because the aerial parts of the parent plant die down to the ground after the growing season. Bananas are perennial plants, meaning they grow and produce flowers multiple times over a period of years. The life cycle of a banana plant is divided into two distinct phases: the vegetative phase (in which the plant prepares itself for reproduction) and the and reproductive phase (in which the plant begins to produce fruit). The banana tree has one big root or an so called taproot system that makes sure the entire banana tree structure stays where it is and gets all of the nutrients that are needed.
The banana plant has an determinate growth. This means that the banana plant grows, develops fruit and dies afterwards. This is important to know because this means that you have to replace your plants to make sure you can keep growing bananas. So how do you get new plants then? At the base of a banana plant, under the ground, is a big rhizome, called the corm. The corm has growing points and they turn into new suckers. These suckers can be taken off and transplanted, and one or two can be left in position to replace the mother plant.
